M.O.P.S. at Beverly
Throughout the year our focus at M.O.P.S. is on being godly mothers and on our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our summer schedule is much more relaxed and includes outings to the local parks and the beach. Also, our topics tend to be on the lighter side, but our focus never changes.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
“Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again.” Deuteronomy 11:19 NLT
As mom’s we have the responsibility to teach our children about God, why he sent his son Jesus to earth to die for our sins, and about the Holy Spirit who is with us now to guide us. Our responsibility does not end there: it also includes teaching our children good character, self-esteem, confidence, ability to accept responsibility, ability to make good choices, etc.
I was trying to think of a clever way to talk about the importance of godly parenting when I found the following on the internet and liked it so much that I wanted to share it with you. I hope you enjoy these words of wisdom from Frank Bernat, Senior Associate Minister at Roswell Church in Roswell, GA.
The 10 Commandments of Parenting
- Teach them using God’s Word (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
- Tell them what is right and wrong (Proverbs 22:6)
- See them as gifts from God (Psalm 127:3-5)
- Guide them in godly ways (Proverbs 4:1-2)
- Discipline them (Deuteronomy 21:18-19)
- Love them unconditionally (1 Corinthians13:4-7)
- Do not provoke them to wrath (Ephesians 6:4)
- Earn their respect by example (Titus 2:7)
- Provide for their physical needs (1 Timothy 5:8)
- Pass your faith along to them (2 Timothy 1:13)
We want to say a huge “Thank You” to Prentice and Patrice Johnson, Murleen McGinnis, Marion Noonan, Elma Borozan, Joy Clutter, Janice Clarke, and Grace Borggren for your faithfulness in all that you do in caring for our children all year long.
